Happy Holidays, Lansdowne!

I can’t believe December is already here, and Christmas is just around the corner. This year the Community League Board was able to meet in person, and it was nice to reconnect and start making plans for the future of our wonderful community.

We welcomed several new board members who have added fresh ideas and perspectives. We are always looking for new people to fill the vacancies on the board, as well as any feedback from the community.

On behalf of the Lansdowne Executive, I would like to wish you all a very happy Holiday and a wonderful New Year!

The Community Rink is here for everyone’s enjoyment! Come enjoy the beautiful lights, fresh ice, as well as our new mini skate zone!

Open daily. Rink lights are turned on from sundown to 9:00 p.m.
Use the rink at your own risk. Keep the facility clean.
Take a moment to review the rules:

1. Rink Manager may close the rink at any time for maintenance.

2. Lansdowne Community League assumes no responsibility for the actions of other individuals or personal injury.

3. Helmet use is recommended for all skaters.

4. Skating in a manner that endangers or interferes with other skaters’ safety or pleasure is strictly forbidden.

5. No fighting, pushing, checking, foul language, smoking, spitting, or high sticking.

6. Alcohol is not permitted on the rink or in the skate room.

7. No food or beverages are allowed on the ice or on the rink boards.

8. Lansdowne Community League reserves the right to revoke privileges from any person who does not obey these rules, shows unacceptable conduct, or any other just cause.

9. No skating when the rink is under maintenance or signs are posted.

10. Shinny is to be kept to half-ice when “non-hockey players” are present.

11. The Rink Manager’s word is final.

**Lansdowne Elementary School ice skates as part of their physical education. Please let the students have priority during school hours.

LCL is actively looking for a new Hall Rental Coordinator(s).

Responsibilities include:

• Bookings and managing the hall rental calendar 

• Collecting online payments

• Meeting with potential renters

• Working with Wes, our Facilities Coordinator to maintain the hall

*David, our current Hall Coordinator, will help support the role transition.

Today, there are more than 1,200 children and youth waiting for a mentor in the Edmonton area—17 of those children and youth live in your neighborhood and surrounding communities. Due to the compounding effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising cost of living, children and families are experiencing escalating mental health risks and further isolation and anxiety; But you can help make a difference.              

Did you know... children who have a mentor in their lives will:

·    Enjoy healthier peer relationships

·    Show a reduced use of drugs and alcohol
